God Still Heals

Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water.
I will take away sickness from among you.
Exodus 23:25

The doctors told me it was not possible to come back from my diagnosis.
My thyroid was burning out. My body was literally eating it.
I had been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis after years struggling with unexplained fatigue, amenorrhea, cold sensitivity, IBS, loose stools, anxiety, and more. Finally someone had listened to my plea to look further into the antibody tests a wise gynecologist had recommended in my early twenties and ran the clinical labs necessary to diagnose me with a definitive explanation for why my thyroid readings had swung back and forth like a pendulum for almost a decade before landing firmly in the hypothyroid ranges. Hearing a real diagnosis was such a relief. Finally, there was an answer.
But was there? The answer, it seemed, was that I would simply continue to take synthetic thyroid hormone replacement for the rest of my life, slowly titrating up in dosage while my thyroid burned out and my body ate itself until the point it would need to be removed. This was specifically how an endocrinologist described the process. This was normal, every day life in his office.
I asked about testimonials I had read online of people reducing antibodies and reversing their illness and he dismissed them. If anything, he said, they were not nearly as far progressed in the disease as I was. More likely, they were false statements.
I refused to believe this. For years I studied and learned more about how to care for the thyroid. Let me tell you, the information is vast but can be confusing and sometimes even contradictory. Eventually, I settled for the simplicity of eliminating gluten and attempting to address my leaky gut. These were good steps, but they were not enough.
It was not until God began revealing to me the need to address the body as a whole that my true healing began. I began seriously including God in my healing through prayer, EFT, and repentance. I also began addressing the negative binds on my neural pathways, working to eliminate automatic negative thought paths and retrain with truth and positive phrases and imaging. A few months into this, something shifted.
Innate healing is often not instantaneous, even when God’s hands are upon it. However, between my first revelation of mind, body, spirit in June 2022 and my lab test in November 2022, my thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) numbers plummeted from 6.4 to 3.29 (the standard range being from 0.46-4.68 ulU/ML).

The chart of my TSH results from 2020-2022. I stopped medicating in July 2021.
I was in the normal ranges for the first time since stopping pharmaceutical intervention. Moreover, I was in the normal range, completely unmedicated, for the first time in almost 20 years.
Am I fully healed? I do not actually know yet. More tests need to be run, more time needs to pass to see if this “sticks.” Yet, I am hopeful – no, I am faith-full – that this TSH marker is a sign that my body is healing. That God is moving in great and mysterious ways in my life and in my health.
Whatever you are facing, it can be reversed. True, God’s hands must be upon you and upon it, but friend, I am living proof that God is still the Great Physician. He still heals. He allows miracles. He does not believe in scientific certainty because He created science. He created us. He weaved within us innate healing mechanisms and invites us to step closer to Him, listen to His call, and open our bodies to healing.
May God reveal Himself as the Great Physician in your life.
