Nourishing Roots Board
We are here foremost to remind you that God loves you. He has a plan for you. He created you in your mother's womb, and he knows every hair on your head. He loves you. He has prepared many mansions in the new Heaven and Earth, and one of them is for you. Yet while we are still on this Earth, He wants to have an intimate relationship with you. Our ambition is to help you erase the barriers that stand between where you presently are and God's ultimate plan for you so you can serve Him fully.
Jane Greenler
My name is Jane Greenler.
I believe one way of serving God is by loving and serving people. I believe all people are made in the image of God and He yearns and desires to be part of their lives. He desires to make us over in His image. I don’t see this as a scary thing, but as a loving Father who rejoices to see His children growing, blessed, and whole in Him. I pray and hope for and work towards the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health of all people. I also believe God has a great sense of humor and longs to bless us with laughter and joy.
I am a Christian. I believe that Jesus Christ died for all of us—and rose again—giving us hope. I believe He longs to be in relationship with each of us. And that we come to Him with nothing, giving all we are to Him. He gives us Himself and with that—everything. This is why I am a Board member of Nourishing Roots. I believe steps towards wholeness and health are possible in mind, body and spirit. Although we live in a fallen sinful world, better is possible here and best is awaiting us.
I have also struggled with Celiac disease, being diagnosed over a decade ago. The diagnosis was a blessing - I finally had a reason for why my stomach and side hurt so much and so often. It’s been a challenge learning to eat gluten-free. I gained 50 pounds initially and I am still working on taking that off. But I keep getting better at choosing foods and I’m re-learning cooking in an entirely new way; especially baking—boy is that different!
I was born in New York City, and so far in my life, I’ve been blessed to have lived in rural, urban, and suburban settings: in the Northeast, the Southwest, the South, the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest. Yes, I’ve moved A LOT!!
I graduated from Wagner College in New York City with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, then I attended Salem School of the Bible (NYC) for two years to study theology. I feel very blessed that I was able to take those two years to give my life a firm grounding for everything I have done since.
My career was split between being in finance (financial controller for a large Wall Street bank and budget analyst for a unified school district of over 50,000 students) and being a secretary (for a law school, a bank, the construction area of an airport authority in a medium sized city, a pecan grower, a commodities broker, and a regional behavioral health care authority). This has given me a rich appreciation for the workers in many fields.
I am married to Pastor Michael Greenler, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus, OH. Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life and the core of my being and of everything I do. His love and guidance have never failed me - though He has given me quite a few surprises!
I come from a family of four children. I have two grown children and two grandchildren. My family gives me great joy! I come from an Irish family—two grandparents from the North of Ireland and two from the South... and despite the politics and religion, we love each other. I enjoy quite a few hobbies. I read voraciously. I love the theater, especially the ballet. I enjoy cooking and sewing as well as gardening, and travel is so much fun! I like many types of music and I sing alto in our church choir.

I know how hard it is to struggle with pain and I know how hard it is to re-learn how you do just about everything in your life. But I’ve learned it’s worth it. Now....to get on with it!
