Part 1 of 3
In the depths of grief, there shines a ray of hope. God’s compassion is ever present. His faithfulness is great… It is only the Lord’s mercy that [prevents] total annihilation. [The book of Lamentations] shows us the serious consequences of sin and how we can still have hope in the midst of tragedy because God is able to turn it around for good. We see the timeless importance of prayer and confession of sin. We will face tragedy in our lives. But in the midst of afflictions, there is hope in God. (Chronological Life Application Study Bible, 2005, p. 1879)

Right now, you may be reading this post and wondering any of a number of questions about yourself and your health: Am I crazy? Is this all in my head? Do I make up being sick? Do I make up being tired? Are these just excuses? Can I really get better? Feel good in life? Make a plan and stick to it? Stop giving up? Stop giving in? Live my life the way I want to live it? Be the mom I want to be? The wife I want to be? The woman I want to be? Is it really possible?
The answer is yes.
But what you must know is that it will take faith, action, and time.
These are the secret ingredients. The great news is you already possess time. You have the same amount of time to put into each day that I do. That your neighbor does. That the president or your favorite actress or the most successful person on the planet does.
You may potentially be lacking – at the moment – in the faith and action departments. Perhaps you suffer from decision paralysis, being afraid of making decisions because you are overwhelmed or scared of what making a decision or moving on it will cost you in time, energy, money, resources. Perhaps you are simply afraid of making the wrong decision and failing. Again. Of trusting the wrong resource.
That is where faith steps in. Faith is the cornerstone of healing. You must have faith in three fundamental truths:
1. God loves you.
2. You are worthy.
3. You are capable.
Once you can grasp these fundamental truths, making decisions and acting becomes easier. You know that your Abba Father will be with you regardless of the decision you make because you are in communion and communication with Him enough that you are able to discern pathways that will heal you versus pathways that will harm you. Knowing you are worthy and capable gives you the needed strength to make the difficult decisions and take the narrow paths when they are presented.
I won’t hedge. When you decide to pursue a closer relationship with God and to reclaim the health and vitality He wants you to have, there will be narrow paths. Difficult decisions. Actions that will separate you from the majority. That will ask you to break from the beliefs of popular culture and what you have grown up learning and “knowing.” But with the belief that God loves you, you are worthy, and you are capable, you can do it.
Enter this blog series. I want to introduce the truths to you that you are loved, worthy, and capable, and share with you the foundation of these truths.
I want you to know that regardless of what everyone around you says, no you’re not crazy, it is not in your head, no you have not just been making excuses about everything, and yes, you can choose actions that will open you to wellness and stick with them. Yes, you can heal with just a little faith, action, and time.
To close today, say a prayer. Ask God to show you where in your life you have stopped believing you are loved. Where you have stopped believing you are worthy. Where you have stopped believing you are capable. Listen. Do not interrupt the thoughts and answers that come to you during your time of prayer.
Now, write them down. This is now a foundation for you to work from as you read your Bible and pray each day. Ask God to strengthen these areas. Reveal where sin, lack of faith, or intervention from the Enemy may be hindering your ability to fully accept these truths, and what you should do about it.
God Bless,
Kristie
